Franchise Agreements

Like agency, distribution and licensing, franchising is another business model alternative which is now a multi-billion pound industry in the UK, employing hundreds of thousands of people.   It is fundamentally an arrangement whereby the franchisor grants to the franchisee, the rights to market a product or service using its business format.  The terms on which such a grant is made are at the heart of the business arrangement.

Franchise networks are commonly associated with the retail, food and leisure sectors, but many other types of commercial enterprise have the potential to be rolled out using a franchise model.

We advise on franchise arrangements whether for a franchisor or franchisee, including providing preliminary advice on the issues to consider when looking to set up a franchise arrangement and how the contractual arrangements need to be dealt with to ensure that key issues such as term, fees, support, territory, marketing and branding are all adequately dealt with. Our experience in this area will ensure that you receive sound and effective commercial advice in addition to our legal expertise.
