Berg’s Employment Department Announces Forthcoming Breakfast Workshop

Berg's Employment Department have released details of its next Employment Law Breakfast Workshop. The workshop is to take place from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. on Wednesday 21 March 2012 at the Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester and will be held in conjunction with digital forensics company, CY4OR.

The topic for this Breakfast Workshop is "Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn....managing the virtual world in our workplace".

Whilst the virtual world provides businesses with many opportunities for communicating, advertising and selling, it can also expose businesses to the risk of reputational damage and cause HR issues. This is currently a hot topic for many employers. Therefore, the workshop will look at key areas such as:

 • What can social networking do for your business and are you making the most of the opportunities it provides?

• What are the risks and how can you protect your business from careless or unscrupulous employees misusing e-mails or social networking sites? What about "cyber-bullying", harassment and discrimination? What action can you take and does it make a difference if the action of employees takes place outside of work and/or in their own time?

Alison Loveday, Managing Partner and Head of the Employment Department comments: "This will be a practical workshop, in conjunction with CY4OR (experts in digital evidence) looking at not only the advantages social networking can bring to your organisation, but also the dangers that go with it and how you, as employers, can limit those risks.

Our aim will be to ensure that you go away with both a clear understanding of the law in this area and practical strategies for dealing with the common workplace issues that are likely to arise." If you or someone in your business would like to attend this Breakfast Workshop, please contact Kate Cooper on 0161 833 9211 or at katec@berg.co.uk to reserve your place. We hope that you will be able to join us and look forward to seeing you there!
