Great Manchester Run 10k
For the third year running, berg team members will be swapping suits for sweats and taking on Europe’s largest 10k, the Great Manchester Run.
The primary aim is to raise much-needed funds for local charity the Booth Centre, which aims to bring about positive change in the lives of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
A team of eight berg staff from a cross-section of the firm has signed up to take on the 10k challenge. Training has begun in earnest, as has collecting sponsorship money.
What we’ve done so far
berg has supported the Centre for over a year now, now through a holistic programme of volunteering, fundraising and profile-raising.
So far this year we’ve run a charity bakesale, Valentine’s Day fundraising quiz, Grand National sweepstake, and supported the Centre’s Streetwise Opera group. In addition our ongoing volunteering programme sees two berg staff help out at the Centre for a morning every fortnight.
As Development Manager for the Centre Amy Hinks says:
“We are delighted to have the support of all the staff at berg this year. They’ve all been so enthusiastic about really getting involved with the work of the Booth Centre and doing something positive to make difference for the homeless people in our community. The funds raised will go towards helping homeless people rebuild their lives, move off the streets and realise a more positive future. Thank you to the berg team for their enthusiasm and commitment, they really are making a difference.”
