From whence do you come?
I was born and raised in Lymm, (a village outside Manchester) but ventured down south to go to university in Bristol.

How long have you been at Berg?
3 months

Why did you choose Berg?
Berg has a great reputation in Manchester as a small to medium sized commercial firm. I was keen to work somewhere that offered me the opportunity to have an input and really get involved which Berg does.

What’s it like to work here?
Every day is different and I enjoy the variety. Everyone from the top to the bottom is approachable and willing to help you. There may be nights when you need to stay late but equally good work is rewarded. I work in the Interest Rate Swaps team and as it is
such a new area everyday can bring up new challenges to keep us on our toes.

Why did you choose law?
My entire family are doctors or are somehow linked to the medical world. I wanted to be different and so opted for law. At university I studied Chemistry and Law but once I started law in my third year I was hooked and have not looked back since!

What do you do when you are not working?
Horse riding takes up a lot of my time as I own and compete my own horse with various degrees of success. I also enjoy skiing and anything that is related to the outdoors. I am an avid reader although I am yet to delve into the dark world of the Kindle!

What is your favourite book?
It depends on my mood! I am a big fan of fictional trilogies mainly because it means I can just follow on and I do not need to make the decision of what book to read next.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
STEAK! I love it and do not think I could cope without it in my life. It would of course have to be accompanied by a rather nice glass of red.

If you could invent one brand new law, what would it be and why?
Walking slowly in a group of people along a busy street is punishable by being placed in the stocks! My simple reasoning is that it is really annoying, especially when you are in a rush.

If your house was on fire, what one item would you save?
It is more than one item but my dog and the two cats. I am sure they would actually be out like a flash waiting for me but it would be my primary concern.

And finally, marmite?
Tried it …… yuck!

Geraldine, I was pleased that the claim against NatWest from mis-selling a SWAP was successful. I found the process efficient without being time consuming and that berg were persistent in pursuing the claim.
